The Local Workforce Development Board (LWDB) represents a wide variety of individuals, businesses, and organizations throughout the local area. The East Baton Rouge Parish Workforce Development Board is a 25-person Board appointed by the CEO (Mayor) of East Baton Rouge for staggered two or three year terms. The Board consists of thirteen (13) private sector and twelve (12) public sector members. The private sector members represent healthcare, insurance, construction, financial education, transportation, manufacturing, telecommunications, etc. The public sector members represent labor union & apprenticeship, education, Wagner-Peyser, veterans, community- based organizations, vocational rehabilitation etc. The chairperson and co-chairperson must be a representative of the private sector.
Local Workforce Development Area 21 has the following committees:
Executive Committee - The Executive Committee acts on behalf of the full board between meetings when such action is necessary.
One Stop Committee - The One-Stop Committee acts on behalf of the full board between meetings when such action is necessary to provide information and assist with operational and other issues relating to the one-stop delivery system.
Youth and Young Adult Committee - The Youth and Young Adult Committee acts on behalf of the full board between meetings when such action is necessary to assist the LWDB with activities related to youth and young adult workforce activities.
The Board meets bi-monthly. Meetings are held during the months of January, March, April, June, August, October, December.
